A certain disciple named Tabitha got sick and died in Lydia. As it was near to Joppa where Peter was, messengers were sent to get Peter. When Peter arrived the widows were around showing all the coats he has produced. Peter put them out. and praying , said to her 'Tabitha, arise'

When you are sad, upset, mourning - God's comfort is always available. example?

This week's lesson says "Do not I fill heaven and earth?, saith the Lord."   Make a picture to illustrate. If
God is filling all space, where is a measle, bump or lump?   This is another way to pray about something.

STORIES: Noah
                   Jesus heals the leper. Notice that we yawn and cry because other do. We "catch" it from
them the same way that we "catch" sickness - mentally. So don't blab about sickness, or let other
people blab to you. If it comes on the tv or radio, turn it off. If the school is teaching about it, you are
allowed, as a student in our Sunday school, not to have to go to those classes.
                  A man was told that he was sleeping in a bed where a man had died of Cholera - a disease
that is being a problem today in a country called Haiti. This man started having the symptoms of
this disease and and the he died of it. But actually there was no cholera patient ever in that bed. So
he only could have "caught" it from the suggestions and talking.

You can't actually have anything that you don't get from God.

Practice saying "God is everywhere and nothing apart from
                             God is present or has power"

But substitute a synonym for God. Do it again with another synonym.

Why do we need to protect ourselves:
Here are some suggestions tor protect ourselves from:
-time limit on test... faced with belief of can't get it all done.
Here's an idea to work with:
-'just say no.'.. no matter who comes up with it a limiting suggesion
( may appear as our thought, or from someone else)
- little thoughts .. are trying to trick you.. make you think it's right.

Easy way to check if it's from God:
- does it feel good.
= does it limit you.
An example of a limiting thought...

A while ago, a friend's mom passed away. She wasn't being who was really.
Suddenly she stopped this behaviour.

Stress --God gives you balance. There's nothing pulling more than others.. Trust that fact.
Victimization- know the fact.. that if someone is not reflecting God.. it's a voice in the head that is tricking you.

p 259: Mortal thought transmits its own images, and forms its offspring after human illusions.
God , Spirit works spiritually, not materially.  Immortal ideas, pure , perfect and enduring are transmitted by the divine Mind.. through div Science which corrects error with truth and demands spiritual thoughts, divine concepts, to the end that they may produce harmonious results.

What do we do in the face of ‘imperfect images, mortal claims?

A meeting at 4:00 was suddently cancelled. By waiting around till 4, I had a chance to talk to talk with another woman who does graphic facilitation. We figured out a way to work together - to meet both our needs.

Jesus' parables.. what was the point?

Where the seed falls:

The wayside is a path everybody walks on. It is trampled, hard, and compacted. This is the heart that is continuously paying attention to everything worldly. Business, society, and other affairs of the world have so compressed the soil that there is no place for the seed to take root. Then the winds of worldly thought sweep away the seed. Dummelow says it's like someone listening to a sermon, but even during the sermon they can't stop thinking about material things. When the sermon is over the first contact with the world sweeps it all away.

The "stony places" represent those who listen superficially. They readily accept the Word, but they have no spiritual stamina; and though they are enthusiastic at first, if they face challenges to their faith, their enthusiasm wanes and they lose interest

The soil full of "thorns" is good ground, and fully capable of productivity, but the weeds of multitudinous interests in material riches and cares of the world leave no time or place for spiritual pursuits and choke out what would be an otherwise fruitful life.

The "good soil" symbolizes those fully receptive and responsive to the Word and therefore capable of a fruitful yield. Note-not everyone produces equally, but each according to his or her unique ability-"some an hundred fold, some sixty, some thirty."

This bond was the power behind everything he did (S-18). If we would be fruitful, we must follow his teachings (S-19). Mrs. Eddy urges us to grow in grace by consciously expressing "patience, meekness, love, and good deeds" (S-20)

Faced with a tech challenge for which I"d tried for days.
The idea was that God knew the answer.. I woke up with a new idea and it transformed the situation.. A new solution surfaced that was so easy.. and has benefited others.

Mom's friend went on one... climbed a mountain.. They saw a lot about the world around them.

God family came up from Oregon.

- we moved homes this week. Many things have gone well:
1 movers moved the micro wave that we didn't need. The new ownes didn't need it so we posted i on Used Victoria and someone's had just broke.
2. our moving boxes that we'd collected and also got from FreeCycle, have blessed many people. The fellow we bought our house from got his boxes from one of our contacts, and his boxes will be taken by someone else that contacted us
3. a friend came over and helped us 3 times.. gave us a great insight on arranging things
4. a friend had a 'tough Christmas' -- talked about relationship breakups, and other stressors. When I asked her about What's Gone Well., what were some refreshing moments, she gave a long list, and noticed that in fact many good moments had taken place.

Went to an inspiriring Arts Night at a local 'highly diverse' highschool
Some of the interviews I've done about WGWT.. each week a young music student reported another activity or experience that made her feel special
Received help when learning a new tool which before I had never used. I didn't even know how to turn it on
Helpful sharing with a friend who's going through a difficult relationship -ending time
Ring bells for Salvation Army.. endeavoured to say hello to every one that went well,
Bunch of us were singing carols they liked it
Spelling bee -- in class. I won.

Came back from Nicaragua safely despite . riots / hurricanes
Lot of people there are facing challenges.. They cherish their love for one another
A friend there was stung by a sting ray. I supported her and used ideas from the Lord's Prayer...used quite a lot. Pointed out the beauty around us at the beginning and end of day.

Scientific Statement of Being

There is no life, truth, intelligence, nor substance in matter. All is infinite Mind and its infinite manifestation, for God is All-in-all. Spirit is immortal Truth; matter is mortal error. Spirit is the real and eternal; matter is the unreal and temporal. Spirit is God, and man is His image and likeness. Therefore man is not material; he is spiritual.

God's Law of Adjustment
Here's an application of God's everlasting light
A testimony that accompanied this article in an older pamphlet told the story of a pilot in World War II. He crashed somewhere in the middle of the Pacific Ocean at night. There he was, alone, in the dark, and what did he do, he started to think about that article. And he began to prayerfully affirm that just as the article said, there was a law of God there to help him. In a short while a search plane located him and rescued him. The pilot of the search plane said, "You know if you hadn't had that 'light' with you, we would have never seen you." The downed pilot said, "I didn't have a light." Hmmm, could that be an example of God being our "everlasting light?"

About eight years ago I was talking with a young practitioner. He asked me about the wound on my nose. It was an ugly-looking wound that had been troubling me and I had not risen above the fear that it was something to fear. My mortal musings had let a belief grow that a little wound had compounded because of my many years of surfing in the strong Florida sun. Ridiculous fears, but I had not opposed their terrorism. So the young practitioner asked me, "Papa, what is that on your nose?" I replied, "Well, Noah, that is where you scratched me the other day when we were playing." "Oh, I'm sorry Papa." He placed his hand on my nose and sang the only song he knew all the words to, "Jingle Bells." Well, he was two and when there was a problem, I had often sung hymns to him. So he did the same for me. It was bedtime, it was dark, and as my son sang to me my eyes filled with tears, and my heart filled with Love. How could I ever have believed that a scratch from this dear child, could grow into an ugly, inflamed wound? Noah went to sleep. I went to bed having been touched by a "Scientist reaching his patient through divine Love..." (Noah was two.) Guess what? When I woke my nose was healed. "...the disease will vanish into its native nothingness like dew before the morning sunshine"!!

Here are couple of wonderful examples of growth and patience students shared:

Fernando... not that good at skating. First year of hockey. First time on ice. He's so passionate about hockey. His family hasn't been able to afford to play. He's not concerned that everyone is better.

Volleyball.. grade 7 and 8. Some of the 7's were not that good. We'd lose really bad. Some of the girls got mad because we lost. Our coach said, wear a smile. (The 7's are children of God).

-The Fernando.... had to confidence. So cool to see how his improvement. If you feel support of team. Reinforcing having fun

Many people and religions hold to the story of the Adam story of creation. where God made everything good and the material changed everything.. It appears there's problems...

Many people think that man is no longer good.
MBE said that this is wrong.. It is impossible to fall from grace.

We can forgive but don't need to be part of it... Need to see clearly that those unGodlike .. Think of them as God's perfect children

examples:

Apostle Paul could change. Student in class who might not be the nicest person. She can have spiritual qualities. We can see those qualities in them.
David and Goliath.. just takes one thought.. to make the error go away... Never existed in the first place.
Error is never real.. It only exists because we're believing.. We don't have to continue to believe it. Kick it out.

You never have to worry about the future, because God doesn't deny you anything, and he's got a plan for you.
God is already where you are.. and where you are , God is
We're all the same spiritual age. - it can't be measured.
Anybody can do what they need to do..

Just as it takes a lot of acceleration (and resistance is felt) for an airplane to break the pull of gravity and soar above the clouds, we sometimes have to work very hard to get above the pull of material belief. But, Jesus showed us how, Mrs. Eddy explained how, and now we have the privilege of doing. The view of reality we gain is the crown!

Steps...change the evidence.

While looking up 'evidence'

The relinquishment of error deprives material sense of its false claims.

evidence:
stand as proof of;

illusion:

Spiritual eye-opening:   Moses, Elijah, Jesus -- what lead to this, what prequel experiences lead up to these?

Looking at life differently...

There is one Biblical experience I always think of when it comes to "eye-opening" experiences. It is the experience of Hagar in Genesis 21. She was lost in the desert, thought she and her son Ishmael would die of thirst, and an angel spoke to her in encouragement, opening her eyes to the present salvation, a spring of water. Let's let our eyes be opened this week to the salvation of "Reality" that is already at hand!!

Section I: Where does God reign? What does God's kingdom look like?

Get to know the landscape.

to be as sure of God’s reign, control , as we are of our times tables.

As idea, our job is to be God's witness and servant -- God's story. Just like numbers and notes tell the story of mathematics and music. We are ESSENTIAL to God's being, but God is the reigning power. Then, no matter what you are asked to do or where you are, or what "the devil" is SUGGESTING to you -- translate your activity into Spirit (Mind and ideas) and praise GOD for HIS control

Section 2: Spirit, the great architect, made you!

Some people from history who say things differently and were not believed and persecuted.

hey didn't believe Galileo either - even after he offered "proof." But, now everyone knows that Copernicus and Galileo were right and we're not even tempted to believe what our eyes tell us.
The Science of Mind (the facts of true creation.) says that life is already harmonious. It's worth the effort to understand this Science. (S-9) You don't have to go along with the crowd. You can be a trend setter by accepting that Spirit designed you with perfect specifications! So, you are strong and nothing about you can ever crumble! Isn't that kind of promise worth refuting the testimony of the senses?

Section 3: God, Spirit, controls the universe, including the weather. Stand still and see it!

Elijah finally convinced the people (and Ahab) that his God was more reliable than the gods of Baal. Remember when Elijah had a contest with the prophets of Baal to see which side could get a fire started first? (I Kings 18) After that, God told Elijah that rain would be coming, and Elijah told Ahab. Wow! That's faith! The senses reported a cloudless sky. No indication it would rain, but Elijah was used to listening to God. He went up to the mountain and prayed to see what God had assured him would be there.
It seemed like a miracle -- that rain would suddenly come. But it was natural, because the atmosphere of thought was finally ready to turn back to the source of all good. (S-11)

Work to see what God is doing - as Elijah worked to see it - and you'll start seeing evidence of the real (and harmonious), and the lies of material sense will break apart and be carried away from view. Don't be fooled by the evidence of the senses! The sun appears to move around the earth, but in science the sun is still and the earth moves. Right where inharmony appears to be, in Science there IS harmony!

Section 4: Storms? What's the big deal? Science shushes them up!

(B-15) The prophet Amos tried to give the people of his time the Scientific view: no matter how it looks, God made everything and even gives man his thoughts! (B-16) Isn't it time to start really accepting the facts ... instead of getting distracted by the sense testimony picture? Stick to Science and there is NOTHING to be afraid of. Why was Jesus so good at reversing the evidence of matter? Because he viewed EVERYTHING from the standpoint of Science (true knowledge.)

Speak with the authority of Christ. Remember, a counterfeit has no buying power once it's seen to be a counterfeit. Neither does the storm - no matter how loud it rages or how scary it looks! Practice on the little stuff -- accept NO disturbances. Then the "big" things won't seem so scary.

A context for a Bible verse...
Golden Text: A prayer for light, truth, and guidance. Sometimes we can feel like we are in darkness even when it's daytime. This was the situation the man who wrote this Psalm was in. He was away from his home and he was being kept from returning home. His enemies didn't believe in God and they were taunting him, trying to make him doubt the existence of God himself.

But he didn't give in to doubt, even though he was surrounded by skeptics (doubters). Instead he prayed for more light and truth to guide him home. He asked God to send him inspiration and to strengthen his understanding of truth. He was convinced that with this help from God he could find freedom from his enemies. Sometimes, suggestions come to our thought that would tempt us to doubt the healing presence of God. Don't be intimidated by these doubters!!! Remember you are not standing alone. God is right there with you pouring out His light and His truth to give you all of the courage and understanding you need to be freed from doubt and fear.

Jesus identified himself as "the way, the truth, and the life." In order to follow Jesus in the way to discover the truth and experience the full spiritual life, in this Responsive Reading, Jesus describes five things one needs to do. First, one needs to "deny himself [disown himself, forget, lose sight of himself and his own interests, refuse and give up himself.] (Amplified Bible Luke 9:23) Second, he tells his listener to "take up his cross daily." Mary Baker Eddy explains, "If you launch your bark upon the ever-agitated but healthful waters of truth, you will encounter storms. Your good will be evil spoken of. This is the cross. Take it up and bear it, for through it you win and wear the crown." (Science and Health page 254) Third, Jesus says, "follow me," live in the way that I live, follow my example. Fourth, "Jesus points out to follow him is not to pursue riches or to be promised material ease in this world. The pursuit is wholly spiritual." (Matthew Henry's Whole Bible Commentary) Jesus himself doesn't even have a place "to lay his head." Fifth, once you begin to follow Jesus you need to give that activity your full attention. Jesus said, "Anyone who starts plowing and keeps looking back isn't worth a thing to God's kingdom!" (Contemporary English Version) If a man who was plowing in a field using oxen looked back while he was plowing, the furrows that he made would be crooked and useless. To follow Jesus in a half-hearted way will not result in many good works. Think about these five steps this week and see how you can put them into action in your life. They will open the gate for you to enter the path of Truth.

Being Born Again..

What does it mean to you?

Each of the stories points back to the two great Commandments: Love God, Spirit, with all your heart--trust that Spirit is supreme and the only Life; love your neighbor (see them) as God does.

1) To heal as Jesus did we have to be born again--of water (purify thought of belief that man is material); and of the Spirit --(spiritualize our concept of life); open our eyes and ears to the Christ message that Spirit is where the action is, where the power is and there is only one creation--perfect God, perfect man.

2) Woman taken in adultry. People saw a sinner--this incorrect view of man blinded them to their own sin (sin = belief in a power apart from God, belief that we are material). Judging and condemning others breaks the two great Commandments because it condemns God's perfect creation; it also undermines our ability to heal because it blinds us to the Christ healing power. Jesus saw God's perfect child when he looked at the woman and this redeemed her from a belief of past mistakes.

3) The father begged Jesus to "come down/descend" to a material view of man and see his son as sick and dying. Jesus refused. He kept his thought at the level of God's perfect creation and lifted the man's thought to that level. God ids immortal so our life does not begin and end--health is permanent, natural.

Dr. William Frederick Underwood and his daughter, Nancy Kiefer were Christian Scientists who struggled for the demonstration of the scientific statement of being and gave convincing proofs of it to Dr. Albert Einstein. "Fifteen engineers, chemists and physicists on Dr. Underwood's team at the Manhattan Project were accidently exposed to nuclear radiation and all died within one to three years after exposure. Although Underwood was also exposed to radiation poison - far more than the others - he was healed through prayer, even though all his organs had begun to bleed and deteriorate, and a neurodegenerative condition had set in. Any scars from this experience also disappeared.... His daughter, Nancy Kiefer, was also healed (by prayer) of nuclear radiation exposure. ... Chief priests and rulers want to get rid of Jesus who they consider a trouble maker. Some wanted to do it on the quiet

At a dinner with a leper, a woman comes and rubs expensive oil on Jesus’ head

Judas decides to cut a deal with the priests for 30 pieces of silver

Jesus has disciples set up the last supper and talks about being betrayed

Jesus uses the bread and the cup to teach a lesson

Before the night's over, you're going to fall to pieces because of what happens to me. There is a Scripture that says,

The words were barely out of his mouth when Judas (the one from the Twelve) showed up, and with him a gang from the high priests and religious leaders brandishing swords and clubs.
